Others are listed simply as leather without a stated grade, and the Chesterfield "antique" models are a bonded leather. Genuine (full-hide) leather is the most hard-wearing and ages attractively; other constructions can look similar and cost less but may be less durable over time. Standard, Manual and Electric Recliners

Keep the sofa out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade and dry leather over time, and away from excessive heat such as radiators. A pale colour like cream shows marks more than a dark shade, so it rewards regular gentle care. For any recliner, operate the mechanism gently and keep the moving parts clear.

Measuring and Access

Measure the wall space and floor depth where the sofa will sit, mark the footprint on the floor, and leave room for walkways. For a recliner, allow extra depth for the footrest and backrest when extended, and note where the nearest mains socket is for an electric model. Then check those figures against the dimensions on the product page. Just as important is the route in: measure your doorways, hallways, tight turns, staircases and any lift at the narrowest point, for both width and height.
