Measure the actual piece — not the packaging.

Measure the clear opening from frame to frame.

Check clearance above every step and at each turn.

Measure the door opening and all interior cabin dimensions.

    1. Key Furniture Dimensions

Start with width, height, and depth — everything else follows

Before you check a single doorway or staircase, get these three measurements nailed down. They're the foundation of every calculation this tool makes.

    • Width: Left to right, measured when facing the front of the piece.
    • Height: Floor to the very highest point — cushions, headboards, and all
    • Depth: Straight from the front face to the back
Tip Packaging adds bulk, typically 2 to 4 inches per side, depending on the item. Always measure the furniture itself, not the box.

    2. Doorway Fit

Can your furniture actually get through the front door?

This is where most delivery problems begin. Check every part of your doorway — not just the obvious opening.

    • Door width: Measure between the inner edges of the frame
    • Door height: Floor to the top of the frame — ignore decorative trims and moulding
    • Side clearance: The space on the hinge side you'll need to rotate the piece
    • Front clearance: Open floor space directly in front of the door for manoeuvring

Tip Always factor in a little extra room for protective wrapping, and two-person handling makes a bigger difference than most people expect.

    3. Staircase Fit

Will it make it up the stairs without getting stuck?

Stairs catch people out more than any other part of the delivery route. Every section matters — not just the straightaways.

    • Stair width: The narrowest usable width along the entire flight
    • Headroom: Ceiling height directly above the staircase
    • Number of turns: Every landing, bend, and corner counts
    • Landing depth: The space available to pivot and reposition the item
    • Step dimensions: Individual rise and tread measurements
Tip If a landing is shallower than your furniture's depth, it simply won't turn — this is one of the most common and avoidable delivery problems.

    4. Elevator Fit

Does it fit in both the lift door and the cabin?

For flats or upper-floor deliveries, the lift is a two-part puzzle. Getting through the doors is only the first half.

    • Door dimensions: Width and height of the lift entrance
    • Cabin size: Internal width, depth, and full height
    • Access clearance: Room required to angle or rotate the item on entry

Make sure there's enough space for both the furniture and the delivery team to move safely — a tight cabin makes safe handling much harder.

Tip Fitting through the lift doors doesn't mean fitting inside the cabin comfortably. Check both before assuming it's fine.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

This furniture fit calculator is a planning tool only. Results are not guaranteed to be 100% accurate.

This tool helps estimate whether furniture can fit through doorways, staircases, or elevators. However, real-life conditions may vary.

    Accuracy may be affected by:

    • Measurement errors: Small inaccuracies can impact results—measure carefully
    • Furniture shape: Irregular designs may not behave like standard box shapes
    • Rotation limits: Tilting and turning cannot be fully simulated
    • Fixed parts: Non-removable components may affect fit
    • Architectural details: Frames, thresholds, or fixtures may reduce clearance

Final responsibility remains with the customer. Always verify measurements or consult a professional before purchase.

If delivery fails due to access issues, our Delivery & Returns Policy will apply, including possible restocking or return fees.
