What is a Chesterfield sofa?

A Chesterfield is a classic sofa style defined by deep-buttoned (tufted) upholstery, rolled arms that sit at the same height as the back, and a low, elegant silhouette. Traditionally made in leather, it brings a timeless, characterful look to a room. The Chesterfields here are all in an antique leather finish, which gives the leather a warm, aged appearance.

What colours do Chesterfield sofas come in?

This range comes in four colours: red, brown, grey and black, all in the same antique leather finish. Brown and black are the traditional choices; grey gives the classic shape a cooler, contemporary tone; and red makes a bold, characterful statement. Each colour is available across the same run of sizes and sets, so you can pick the shade first and the configuration second.

What sizes and configurations do Chesterfield sofas come in?

The range spans 2 and 3 seater sofas plus a wide choice of matching sets — including 2+2, 3+1, 3+2, 3+1+1 and 3+2+1 combinations, with armchairs included in the +1 sets. That gives you options from a single sofa up to seating for a large family room. Availability of each size varies by colour, so check the individual product page.

Are these Chesterfields genuine leather?

The product titles describe these as leather in an antique finish rather than specifying genuine leather, so we don't make a blanket genuine-leather claim across the collection. Always check the individual product page for the exact leather type used in the design you're considering, so you know precisely what you're buying.

Is a Chesterfield sofa comfortable for everyday use?

Yes. Despite the traditional look, a Chesterfield is a practical everyday sofa — the deep-buttoned back and generously padded seat give firm, supportive comfort. The leather upholstery is hard-wearing and wipes clean easily, which suits busy living rooms. As with any sofa, comfort is personal, so visiting our Coventry showroom to try one is worthwhile if you can.

How do I clean and care for a leather Chesterfield?

Wipe the leather regularly with a clean, slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards, paying attention to the buttoned areas where dust can gather — a soft brush helps here. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, keep the sofa out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and deal with spills promptly. A specialist leather conditioner applied occasionally helps keep the finish supple.

How long does a leather Chesterfield sofa last?

A well-made leather Chesterfield is a long-term piece of furniture, and the style is known for its longevity — the classic look doesn't date, and leather tends to age well, gaining character over the years. Looking after the upholstery with regular light cleaning and occasional conditioning is the main thing that keeps one looking its best for years to come.

Which colour Chesterfield should I choose?

It comes down to your room and the look you want. Brown and black suit traditional and period rooms and hide everyday marks well; grey works beautifully in contemporary schemes; and red is a striking focal-point colour for a characterful room. Because all four share the same shape and antique finish, the decision is purely about the tone that suits your space.

What's the difference between a Chesterfield and a modern sofa?

A Chesterfield has a traditional, formal look — deep buttoning, rolled arms and a low back — whereas a modern sofa usually has cleaner, simpler lines and often a higher, softer back. A Chesterfield makes more of a statement and suits classic or characterful rooms; a modern design tends to feel more casual. The choice comes down to the style of room you want to create.

Is finance available on Chesterfield sofas?

Yes. You can spread the cost with PayPal Pay in 3, Klarna Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 (both interest-free), Clearpay in 4 interest-free fortnightly payments, or DivideBuy for longer-term finance plans. Finance is subject to credit check. See our finance page for the current options and representative terms.

How long does delivery take?

Most in-stock Chesterfield sofas are delivered within 7 to 10 working days. Standard delivery is free of charge to England and Wales, carried out by a two-person team who bring the sofa into your chosen room, access permitting, and set it in place on arrival.

What happens if my Chesterfield arrives damaged?

If your sofa arrives with any damage or a fault, contact our team on 02476 705 600 as soon as possible and we'll arrange to put it right. It helps to check the sofa on delivery and report any issue promptly, so we can resolve it quickly.

Do I need to assemble the sofa myself?

No — there's no flat-pack building for you to do. Our two-person delivery team brings the sofa into your chosen room, access permitting, and fits any feet on-site, so it's ready to use once they leave.

Can I return a Chesterfield and what is the returns window?

Yes. We offer a 14-day change-of-mind returns policy on our Chesterfield sofas, so you can order with confidence. If you'd like to return an item, get in touch within 14 days and our team will talk you through the process.

Is there a warranty on a Chesterfield sofa?

These Chesterfields are not sold with a separate frame warranty. Every order is covered by our 14-day change-of-mind returns policy and your statutory rights, and if a sofa arrives faulty or damaged we'll put it right — just call 02476 705 600.
