What's included in this collection?

79 manual recliner sofas, chairs and matching sets from the Valencia, Roma and Conway ranges — single 2 and 3 seaters, sets up to 3+2+1, and recliner armchairs, in leather and fabric across six colours. Every one is a manual recliner, and the whole range is currently in stock.

What is a manual recliner?

A manual recliner is a reclining sofa or chair you operate by hand — you pull a side lever or push back against the seat to tilt it, and a spring mechanism holds the position. There's no motor, so no socket, plug or cabling is needed. It's the simplest, most reliable type of reclining seat.

What's the difference between a manual and an electric recliner?

A manual recliner is operated by hand with a lever or push-back action and needs no power. An electric recliner uses a motor at the touch of a button but must sit within reach of a mains socket. Manual models are usually simpler and lower-priced; electric models offer effortless, button-operated movement. Both need clearance behind to tilt back.

Do manual recliners need to be plugged in?

No — that's the main advantage. Manual recliners have no motor and need no socket or cabling, so you can place them anywhere in the room without planning around a power point. If you'd prefer button-operated movement instead, compare our electric recliner range, which does need a socket within reach.

How does the reclining mechanism work?

Most manual recliners here work either with a side lever or handle that releases the backrest and footrest together, or with a push-back action where leaning against the backrest reclines the seat. The exact action varies by model, so check the product page. Whichever it uses, leave clearance behind for the backrest and in front for the footrest.

Are these leather or fabric?

Both. The Conway range is fabric (grey); the Valencia and Roma ranges are leather or leather-look. Because the collection doesn't carry a single verified material value for every product, we don't state whether a given leather model is one specific material or leather-look here — check the individual product page for the exact material.

What configurations can I buy?

Recliner armchairs, single 2 and 3 seater reclining sofas, and matching sets in 2+1, 2+2, 2+1+1, 3+1, 3+2, 3+1+1, 3+2+1 and 3+3. The notation shows how seats split across pieces — a 3+2 is a 3 seater plus a 2 seater, and 3+2+1 adds an armchair. Use the filters to narrow to what you want.

What is the difference between a 3+2 and a 3+2+1 set?

A 3+2 set is a 3 seater sofa plus a 2 seater sofa. A 3+2+1 adds a single recliner armchair, giving an extra individual seat and the most coordinated seating. The 3+2+1 needs more floor space, so measure your room and plan the layout — including recline clearance — before choosing.

Can I buy just a recliner armchair?

Yes — the range includes standalone manual recliner armchairs in several ranges and colours. They work well on their own for a single reclining seat, or alongside a matching sofa. Like the sofas, they need clearance behind for the backrest and in front for the footrest to rise.

How much clearance does a recliner need?

A manual recliner needs space behind it for the backrest to tilt and space in front for the footrest to rise. The exact clearance varies by model, so check the recline measurements on the product page and add a little extra for comfort. If you're tight on space behind the sofa, mention it to our team on 02476 705 600.

How do I measure for a recliner sofa or set?

Measure the wall space and floor depth where it will sit and mark the footprint on the floor, leaving room for walkways and for the recline front and back. Then check those figures against the product's dimensions on its page. For a set, plan where each piece will go before ordering.

How do I measure doorway and hallway access?

Measure your doorways, hallways, tight turns, staircases and any lift at the narrowest point, for both width and height, and check those against the product dimensions. For a multi-piece set, plan how each piece will be brought in. If in doubt, call us on 02476 705 600 before ordering.

How should I care for a manual recliner?

Follow the product-specific care instructions first. For the upholstery, wipe leather with a slightly damp cloth or blot fabric gently, dust or vacuum regularly, and avoid harsh cleaners and direct heat or sunlight. For the mechanism, operate it gently, don't force it, and keep the moving parts clear of obstructions.

How long will a manual recliner last?

There's no single figure — it depends on the material, how much it's used, how well it's cared for and the product's construction. We don't quote a fixed number of years or make durability claims. Operating the mechanism gently and following the care guidance, and checking the product page for its specification, is the best guide.

Are the products in stock?

Yes — at the time of writing the entire range of 79 is in stock, which is unusual and makes building a matching set easy. Availability is shown live on each product, and a few lines show lower stock, so it's worth ordering promptly if a model shows only a few left.

How quickly is delivery?

Delivery is free to England and Wales by a two-person team, and timeframes can vary by product. Please check the timeframe shown on the product card for the item you're considering, or ask our team on 02476 705 600 to confirm the current lead time, especially for a multi-piece set.

Are finance options available?

Yes — you can spread the cost with our interest-free finance options, subject to credit check. Current providers and terms are shown on our finance information page and at checkout, so you can compare and choose the plan that suits your budget. Call 02476 705 600 if you'd like help.

What should I do if my sofa arrives damaged?

Inspect your sofa on arrival, keep the packaging where practical, and take clear photographs of any damage. Then contact Furniture Instore promptly on 02476 705 600 or through our support channels so we can help put it right. Reporting it quickly, with photos, makes resolving it much easier.

Do the sofas arrive assembled?

Any assembly needed varies by product — some may need feet fitting, for example, and a set arrives as separate pieces. Please check the details on the individual product page or contact our team on 02476 705 600 to confirm. Our two-person delivery team brings your furniture into your chosen room, access permitting.

Can I return a manual recliner sofa?

Yes — our 14-day change-of-mind returns policy applies, and conditions apply. Please see our returns information page for the full current terms and how to arrange a return, or call our team on 02476 705 600 if you'd like to talk it through first.

What warranty applies?

Warranty terms vary by product, so please check the details shown on the individual product page, or contact our team on 02476 705 600 to confirm the cover for the specific sofa you're considering. We'd rather give you the exact terms for your chosen item than a general figure.
