What is in the Valerie brown range?

Twelve products. Four individual pieces — footstool, armchair, 2 seater and 3 seater — and eight set configurations: 2+1, 3+1, 2+2, 3+2, 3+3, 2+1+1, 3+1+1 and 3+2+1. Every one is in stock, which is unusual for a range this complete.

What is Leather Aire?

A man-made upholstery material with a leather-like surface. It is not animal hide, and we keep the two distinct because they behave differently and need different care. If you have seen this range described simply as leather, Leather Aire is the accurate term and the one we use.

Is Leather Aire the same as genuine leather?

No. Genuine leather is animal hide; Leather Aire is a man-made material made to resemble it. Aire is easier to wipe clean and costs less. Genuine leather develops a patina over years and is generally more hard-wearing. Neither is better outright — they suit different households.

Why do the product titles just say leather?

Is it good for children and pets?

It is one of the more practical surfaces we sell for a busy household, because spills wipe off rather than soaking in. That said, a coated surface can scuff or scratch where a woven fabric would not, so claws are worth thinking about. We would rather set that expectation now.

Do you sell it as sets, or only separate pieces?

Both, and the sets are two thirds of the range. If you have seen this range described only as sofas and matching pieces, that is incomplete — eight ready-made combinations exist, and each costs less than buying the same pieces individually.

What do the set numbers mean?

The first number is the largest sofa and each further number is an additional piece. A 3+2 is a three seater plus a two seater. A 3+1+1 is a three seater plus two armchairs. Count the numbers for pieces and add them together for seats.

Are all twelve in stock?

How do I care for Leather Aire?

Wipe with a clean, slightly damp cloth and deal with spills promptly. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and solvents, which can damage the coated surface. Do not use leather conditioner — it is formulated for hide and does nothing useful here. Keep it away from direct heat.

Will it crack or peel?

Any coated material can eventually show wear at the points that flex most, particularly seat fronts and arm tops. Keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators helps considerably, since heat and UV are what age the surface fastest. We are not going to put a timescale on it.

A warm mid brown, and the only colour in this particular range — though Valerie is offered in other colourways elsewhere on the site, including a charcoal fabric version. Brown reads warmer than a neutral and works with both contemporary and more traditional rooms.

What size room do I need?

That depends on the configuration rather than the range. An armchair needs one modest position; a 3+2+1 needs three with walkways between. Measure each position separately rather than adding widths together, because the pieces will not sit in a line.

How do I measure doorways, hallways, stairs and lifts?

Measure the narrowest point on the whole route: door width and height, hallway width, the tightest turn and any stair landing you have to pivot on. On any set containing a three seater, that piece is the constraint — measure it and the smaller pieces will follow.

Can I add to a Valerie set later?

In principle yes, since every piece is sold separately and the whole range is currently available. But coated materials can vary slightly in tone between production runs, and stock positions change. If you think you will want a third piece, buying the larger set now is the safer route.

Can I return it, and does it come with a warranty?
