This is the colour hub for black across the whole sofa catalogue rather than a narrow range, and at 197 products it is one of the broadest collections on the site. It covers fixed sofas, manual recliners and electric recliners, four upholstery types, and a configuration ladder that runs from one armchair up to a three-piece suite.
Around twenty ranges are represented. That breadth is the point of a colour hub: if you have settled on black and are open on everything else, this is where the whole choice sits in one place. If you already know the shape or mechanism you want, a narrower collection will get you there faster, and our full sofa range is the level above this one.
Four, and the product title is the reliable guide to which is which. Genuine leather is confirmed in the title on the Dalmore, Cidliano, Renato, Dandrea and Vantage ranges and on several Annecy listings. It is a natural material that develops its own texture with use and benefits from occasional specialist conditioning.
Leather without the word genuine covers Valerie, Verona Leather, Roma Leather, Valencia, Sienna, Cinema, Box Sofa and the Chesterfield range. We describe these as leather rather than claiming a genuine-leather content the product record does not confirm. Fabric covers the Verona Fabric High Back and Scatter lines. Velvet appears once, on a Sloane U shape corner sofa, and it is a distinct material with a raised pile rather than a type of fabric. Our leather sofas collection is the material-led view across all colours.
The ladder starts with single armchairs, of which there are several across different ranges and price points. Then 2 seater, 3 seater and 4 seater sofas as standalone pieces. Then corner sofas, including one U shape.
Multi-piece sets make up the largest part of the collection. Where black differs from most colour hubs is the sheer duplication of configurations across ranges: a 3+2 set exists in Valerie, Dalmore, Verona Leather, Sienna, Roma, Valencia, Cinema, Annecy, Cidliano, Renato and Dandrea. That redundancy is genuinely useful, because if one range is out of stock in the size you want, another usually covers it. If space is the binding constraint, our small sofas collection narrows to the smaller footprints.
Sets use the shorthand you will see throughout the grid. Two-piece combinations are 2+1, 2+2, 3+1, 3+2 and 3+3. Three-piece suites are 2+1+1, 3+1+1 and 3+2+1. The first number is the largest sofa in the set and each further number is an additional sofa or chair, so a 3+1+1 is a three seater with two matching armchairs.
Buying as a set rather than piece by piece guarantees the pieces match, and on a colour as absolute as black that matters more than you might think: two blacks from different ranges can read as slightly different tones side by side, particularly if one is leather and one is fabric. Our sofa sets collection shows the same shorthand across other colours.
All three appear here in black. A fixed sofa has no moving parts and gives you the widest choice of shapes, including the corner and U-shape designs. A manual recliner uses a handle you pull yourself, so it can sit anywhere in the room with no socket to plan around; Valencia and Roma cover this in black.
An electric or power recliner moves at the press of a button and needs to sit within reach of a mains socket. Cinema, Annecy, Cidliano, Renato and Dandrea all appear as electric ranges in black, and Cinema adds cup-holder designs. If reclining is the deciding factor rather than the colour, our recliner sofas collection is the mechanism-led view.
Roughly twenty. Valerie is the broadest of the fixed leather ranges in black, covering armchair through to 3+2+1. Dalmore covers the same ladder in genuine leather at a higher price point. Verona Leather and Sienna add further fixed options, and Box Sofa sits at the entry end.
On the reclining side, Valencia and Roma cover manual, while Cinema, Annecy, Cidliano, Renato and Dandrea cover electric. Vantage offers genuine leather across several sizes. And the Chesterfield range brings the deep-buttoned classic design in black across armchair, 2 seater, 3 seater and four different set combinations, which our Chesterfield leather sofas collection covers in other colours too.
With 197 products, narrowing is the whole job. Four filters, in the order that cuts the list fastest.
Black leather and black fabric are very different propositions in daily life. Leather wipes clean and shows dust less against a smooth surface. Fabric feels softer but holds lint and pet hair in the weave, which black shows more than any other colour. Deciding this first removes most of the list immediately.
Reclining halves the choice again, and it brings its own constraints: clearance behind and in front, and a socket within reach if you go electric. If you want a corner or U shape, note that those are mostly fixed designs rather than reclining ones.
Measure before choosing between a single sofa and a set, and measure for the reclined footprint if reclining. Because so many configurations are duplicated across ranges here, you can usually hold the size fixed and shop on range and price rather than compromising on the size. Our sofa buying guide works through the same sequence in more general terms.
This matters more on this collection than on most. Stock is uneven, and several ranges are heavily depleted in black. Filter by availability early rather than falling for a product that cannot be delivered.
Black is the best colour we sell for hiding liquid marks and general grubbiness, and the worst for hiding dust, lint, pale crumbs and pet hair. That is the whole trade-off in one sentence, and which side matters more depends on your household rather than on the sofa.
Material shifts the balance considerably. On black leather, dust and hair sit on the surface and lift off with a wipe. On black fabric they settle into the weave, and on black velvet into the pile, so both need vacuuming more often than a lighter shade would. If you want a neutral that hides dust better while still being forgiving of marks, our grey sofas collection is the shade most people compare black against.
We would rather be straight with you here than reassuring. Stock across this collection is uneven, and it is not evenly uneven: several ranges are heavily depleted specifically in black. The fabric options are the worst affected, with most of the Verona Fabric High Back and Scatter listings unavailable, and the single velvet U shape is out of stock too. In practice that means the black range is currently far more of a leather range than the collection breadth suggests.
Two ranges are also mostly unavailable in black on the fixed-leather side. Where that leaves you is better than it sounds, because the configuration duplication described above means an out-of-stock 3+2 in one range usually has an in-stock equivalent in another. Filter by availability first and the collection becomes considerably easier to navigate. Some depleted lines also reappear as reduced units in our outlet range.
Measure the wall run using the dimensions on the individual product page. For a corner or U shape, measure each run of the L or U plus the room depth. For any reclining model, add clearance behind for the backrest and in front for the footrest, because a recliner takes up more floor space in use than its closed dimensions suggest.
Then measure the route in: doorway widths, hallway turns, stair landings and the tightest pinch point between the front door and the room. On a multi-piece set, check each piece against that route rather than assuming the largest is the only obstacle. Our customer FAQs page covers the access questions we field most often.
Leather and genuine leather want a clean, slightly damp cloth, no harsh chemical cleaners, and occasional specialist conditioning. One point specific to black: keep it out of the direct path of strong sunlight, because black upholstery fades unevenly and the result is more noticeable than on a mid tone.
Fabric wants regular vacuuming with an upholstery attachment, working into the seams, and spills blotted immediately rather than rubbed in. Velvet wants the lightest touch of all: brush gently in the direction of the pile and avoid soaking it, since water marks show readily on a raised pile. On any reclining model, take care that cleaning products do not run into the mechanism. Our fabric sofas collection covers the fabric range across other colours.
Four things worth a phone call rather than an assumption. Leather grade is unstated on the majority of ranges here, which say Leather rather than Genuine Leather. The meaning of “Antique” on the Chesterfield listings is undefined. Dimensions and frame construction are not held consistently across ranges. And corner orientation, left-hand or right-hand facing, is not stated on the corner designs.
One more point of transparency about this page itself: black is a colour where two products described identically can look different in person, particularly across materials. If you are matching a new sofa to something you already own, or buying pieces from two different ranges, it is genuinely worth seeing them in the Coventry showroom rather than trusting two product photographs shot under different lighting.
Most in-stock black sofas arrive within 7–10 working days, with free delivery to England and Wales. Delivery is handled by a two-person employed team rather than a third-party courier. They bring the sofa into your chosen ground-floor room where access allows, fit any feet and join the sections of a corner or set on site, and take the packaging away on request. Old sofa removal is available if you would like your existing sofa taken away at the same time.
