How to choose the right combination

Two things decide the right set: how many people you need to seat, and how much floor space you have.

Start with seating

Count the seats you regularly need. Three people? A 2+1 or 3+1. Four? A 2+2 or 3+1. Five? A 3+2. Six or more? A 3+3. It's better to choose for everyday use than for the occasional full house — you can always add a chair later.

Then check the room

A set needs space for each piece with at least 80cm of walkway clearance around it. As a rough guide: 2+1 and 2+2 suit small-to-medium rooms; 3+1 and 3+2 suit average-to-large rooms from around 4m wide; 3+3 wants 4.5m or more.
