It is an engineered leather-look upholstery designed to breathe, so it stays cooler to sit on through a long evening, and it wipes clean in seconds. Its care is refreshingly short. There is no conditioning schedule, no feeding and no special products — the surface is made to be maintained with a damp cloth. What it does ask is that you keep it clear of concentrated heat, wipe the places your skin touches, and never let a solvent near it.

No conditioner, ever
Leather Aire is not natural hide, so there are no oils to replace. Conditioners and polishes cannot be absorbed — they sit on the surface, collect dust and can leave a tacky film. A damp cloth is the entire product list.

Vacuum the seams.
Soft-brush attachment along the crevices, under the cushions and around the piping, where grit collects and slowly abrades the surface.
Wipe the whole surface.
A clean microfibre cloth, damp with plain water and well wrung out. Nothing else is needed for routine cleaning.
Dry as you go.
Follow with a dry cloth so no moisture stands along the stitching. Leather Aire handles water well, but seams are still the weak point.
Wipe where you rest.
Headrests and arm tops collect hair products and skin oils. These are the first places any leather-look surface tires, so give them a second pass.
Test anything new on a hidden panel
Even a product sold as leather-safe can behave differently on an engineered surface. Try it under a cushion or on the back panel first and give it ten minutes.
The surface is sealed, so almost everything sits on top and wipes away. Speed still helps, and the one rule you cannot bend is no solvents.

Solvents are the one true no

Concentrated heat is the enemy of every leather-look upholstery. Radiators, wood burners, open fires and underfloor heating dry and stiffen the surface over time. Leave at least 50cm of clearance.
Leather Aire resists UV better than standard faux, but no upholstery is immune. Prolonged direct sun still fades colour, so use blinds, curtains or UV-reflective film in bright rooms and conservatories.
Skin oils, hair products and sun cream are the slow, invisible cause of surface wear. Headrests and arm tops need wiping every week, not only when the sofa looks dirty.
Conditioners, balms, waxes, polishes and silicone sprays are made for natural hide. On an engineered surface they sit on top, attract dust and can turn sticky. Plain water is the correct product.
Antibacterial wipes, baby wipes, all-purpose sprays and anything alcohol-based can cloud or soften the finish. Mild soapy water is as strong as you should ever need to go.
The surface is durable but it is still a surface. Trim pet claws, and keep keys, buckles, studs and jean rivets off the seats.
Turn reversible cushions and plump them weekly so wear, light exposure and compression spread across the whole sofa rather than concentrating in one seat.

No. Most contain alcohol or other solvents that can cloud and soften a leather-look surface, and many leave a residue that attracts dirt. They are the most common avoidable cause of damage we see on this material.
It handles spills very well — nothing soaks in and odours do not take hold. Claws are the limitation, as with any surfaced upholstery: a deep scratch cannot be buffed out the way it sometimes can on natural hide. Trim claws and consider a throw on favourite spots.
It resists UV better than standard faux leather, but prolonged direct sunlight fades any upholstery. In a conservatory or a south-facing room, use blinds, curtains or UV-reflective film, and rotate the cushions so exposure stays even.
Far less than ordinary faux leather — that is the whole point of the material. It is engineered to breathe, so it does not trap heat against you the way a sealed vinyl surface does. In a very warm room it will still feel warmer than fabric.
