How a power recliner works, and what it asks of you

A motor drives the mechanism and you work it with a button or handset. Hold to move, release to stop, so the chair settles wherever suits rather than at a fixed notch. In return it asks two things a manual chair does not: a mains socket within reach, one per chair, and some thought about the cable run. Nothing needs wiring in; it plugs in like a lamp. Clearance: more room open than closed

This is where people come unstuck. A recliner needs clearance behind for the back to tilt, in front for the footrest, and room at the sides to get in and out. Figures vary by model, so take them from the product page and tape out the open footprint, not the closed one. A chair that fits closed can be unusable against a wall. Four upholstery types, kept distinct

Genuine leather where a title states it, on Annecy, Dandrea and Turin. Leather where a title names no grade, on Cinema and Valencia. Fabric on Tanya and Foster, the warmest surface to sit on. Genuine leather or leather: read the title

The distinction sits in the product title rather than the price. Genuine leather is a natural hide and we use the term only where a title states it; where a title names no grade we call it leather and claim nothing further. Note Cidliano is inconsistent with itself here: two of its chairs state Genuine Leather and one states only Leather. Take the specification from the product page. The Cinema cup holder chairs

Three chairs here have a cup holder built into each armrest, all Cinema and all electric. That feature is the reason the range exists, so look at the product images to see how the holder sits in the arm. Colours, and pairing with a sofa you already own

Grey, black, tan, cream, beige and brown all appear. Black and grey are the most forgiving of everyday marks; tan and brown are the warm options; cream and beige keep a corner light but show marks soonest. Where a power recliner earns its place

A single chair goes where a reclining sofa cannot: a corner, a study, a bay window, a bedroom, or beside a sofa you own and do not want to replace. Getting it through the door

Recliner chairs arrive assembled, so the whole chair has to clear your doorways, hallway turns and any stair landing. A shorter list of obstacles than a sofa faces, and a less forgiving one, because there is nothing to take apart. Care, by material

Fabric wants vacuuming with an upholstery tool and blotting rather than rubbing. Suede wants a soft brush and no water. Leather wants a wipe with a damp cloth, and hide takes an occasional conditioner. Looking after the mechanism

Three things keep a power recliner working. Leave the clearance behind rather than reclining hard against a wall, which strains the mechanism. Do not stand on an extended footrest or weight it while raised. And if it stiffens or makes a new noise, stop using it and ring us. Stock, clearance chairs and single units

29 of the 40 are in stock. Some are flagged clearance, meaning end-of-line rather than core range, and those will not restock. Eleven are sold out and carry a back-in-stock alert; we will not promise a date, because restocking is a buying decision rather than a schedule. Delivery

Delivery is free across England and Wales and usually takes 7–10 working days. Our own two-person team carries the chair into your chosen ground-floor room, positions it and takes the packaging away.
