Three different Verona greys, and how to tell them apart

The most confusing thing in the grid, so it goes first. Verona appears in three grey versions with almost the same name. Verona Leather is the leather one. Verona High Back is fabric with a fixed, taller back. Verona Scatter is fabric with loose back cushions. Scatter back or high back

Worth understanding rather than guessing, because two of those Veronas differ only in this. A scatter back is loose cushions: softer, more informal, and it needs plumping to look tidy. Fabric or leather in grey

Both are here in quantity and they do not look the same even in the same nominal grey. A woven fabric reads warmer and absorbs light; leather reads cooler and shows the shape of the sofa more sharply. Fabric is more forgiving in a family room, leather wipes down faster. Which of these is genuine leather

Fixed sofas and manual recliners

Most of this collection is fixed: no mechanism, no cable to plan around. The Conway range brings the recliners in this grid and they are manual, tilted back by a side lever. A recliner still needs clearance behind for the backrest and in front for the footrest, so a sofa that fits closed can be unusable against a wall. Corner sofas, and the left hand or right hand decision

Several corners appear, from Orka and from both fabric Veronas. The Orka comes as LHC and RHC, mirror images of the same sofa, the code describing which side the long return runs to. Conventions differ between retailers, so check the photographs against your own corner and ring us if in doubt. A corner cannot be turned round once it arrives. Sizes, sets and configurations

In a set the numbers are the seats in each piece: a 3+2 is a three-seater and a two-seater, a 3+1+1 swaps the two-seater for two armchairs. Why grey works, and where it does not

Grey is the most bought sofa colour because it forgives everyday marks and sits with almost any scheme, which makes it the safe choice when the rest of the room is unsettled. Measuring before you order

Take the width, depth and height from the product page, mark the footprint on your floor with tape and live with it a day. For a corner, measure both wall runs and each section depth; for a recliner, add clearance at both ends. Then measure the route in against the packaged dimensions. Care, by material

Fabric wants vacuuming with an upholstery tool to lift dust from the weave, and blotting spills from the outside inwards rather than rubbing. Leather wants dusting and a damp cloth. Stock, pre-order and what is unavailable

112 of the 289 are out of stock, close to two in five, so it is worth filtering to in-stock before you fall for something. Some are pre-order rather than sold out, with a stated lead time that can run to several weeks. Set a back-in-stock alert and you will be emailed if one returns, though we will not promise a date. Delivery

Delivery is free across England and Wales and usually takes 7–10 working days for items in stock; pre-order items follow their own stated lead time. Our two-person team carries each piece into your chosen ground-floor room, access permitting. Corner sofas arrive in sections, which makes access easier. Our 14-day change of mind returns policy covers unused items in original condition, counted from delivery. Contact us within those 14 days so a collection can be arranged. Separately, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 cover faulty or misdescribed goods, and are not time-limited.
