Velvet, fabric and leather are three different things

The Scott sofas are velvet, a pile fabric with a soft sheen that catches light differently depending which way the pile lies. The Verona sofas are fabric, a flat weave. Scatter back or high back: the two Verona greys

Same size, same range, same grey fabric, so the difference is easy to miss. A scatter back has loose cushions you arrange yourself: softer, more informal, and it needs plumping. Is a four-seater right for your room?

A four-seater is a lot of sofa, and the size most often bought too large. It earns its place in a room wide enough to leave a walkway at both ends, or in open-plan space where it defines a seating area. The corner sofa in this collection

One of the six is a corner rather than a straight sofa. A corner seats four in a smaller floor area, which suits a square room, but it commits two walls instead of one and cannot be flipped, so the side the return runs to must match your corner. Measuring, and getting it through the door

A four-seater is the size where access goes wrong. Mark the footprint on your floor with tape and live with it a day, then measure the route in: doorway widths and heights, hallway turns and stair landings. A long sofa has less room to pivot on a turn. Compare against the packaged dimensions, not the sofa dimensions. Our sofa measuring guide sets out the method.

Care, by material

Velvet wants a soft brush in one direction to keep the pile lying evenly, vacuuming on a low setting, and blotting rather than rubbing, since rubbing flattens the pile. Flat fabric wants vacuuming and prompt blotting. Leather wants dusting and a damp cloth. Keep all three out of direct sunlight; velvet fades soonest. Full guidance is in our care guide.

Four of the six are currently unavailable. Set a back-in-stock alert and you will be emailed if one returns. We will not promise a date, because restocking is a buying decision rather than a schedule. Delivery

Delivery is free across England and Wales and usually takes 7–10 working days. Our own two-person team carries the sofa into your chosen ground-floor room, access permitting. The corner sofa arrives in sections, which makes access easier, and removal of your old sofa can be arranged at the same time. Full timescales are on our delivery information page.

Our 14-day change of mind returns policy covers unused items in original condition, counted from delivery. Contact us within those 14 days so a collection can be arranged. Separately, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 cover faulty or misdescribed goods, and are not time-limited.
