What we actually stock in four seats

Six four-seat sofas, two in stock. Two Scott velvet sofas in dusty rose and midnight, two Verona grey fabric sofas in scatter-back and high-back versions, and one Roma leather four-seat corner sofa with a manual recliner. How to get four reclining seats today

A reclining set rather than a single long sofa. A 3+1 gives a three-seater plus an armchair; a 3+2 gives five seats across two pieces. Either reaches four or more reclining positions, and we hold both in quantity across the Valencia, Roma, Conway, Annecy and Cidliano ranges, manual and electric. Why a set is often the better answer anyway

Not just a workaround for what we stock. A recliner needs clearance behind for the backrest and in front for the footrest, and a single long reclining sofa commits one entire wall to all of it. Two pieces let you split the clearance and put each recliner where there is actually space. In a room with a fireplace, a bay or a doorway on the long wall, that flexibility usually wins. If a four-seat footprint is what matters

Then the five fixed sofas here will suit, and a fixed four-seater has real advantages: no mechanism, no clearance to plan for and usually a shallower depth. A four-seater is the standard answer for a long wall in an open-plan room. It is also the size most often bought too large, which the measuring section deals with. Velvet, fabric and leather are three different things

The Scott sofas are velvet, a pile fabric with a soft sheen that catches light differently depending which way the pile lies. The Verona sofas are fabric, a flat weave. Scatter back or high back: the two Verona greys

Same size, same range, same grey fabric, so the difference is easy to miss. A scatter back has loose cushions you arrange yourself: softer, more informal, and it needs plumping. The same Scott sofa is listed twice

Worth saying plainly. The Scott Dusty Rose velvet appears once as a standard listing and once as an outlet listing, at two different prices. They are the same sofa. Measuring a four-seater

A four-seater is the size where access goes wrong. Mark the footprint on your floor with tape and live with it a day, then measure the route in: doorways, hallway turns and stair landings, because a long sofa has less room to pivot on a turn. Compare against the packaged dimensions, not the sofa dimensions. On a reclining set, add clearance at both ends of each piece. Our sofa measuring guide sets out the method.

Care, by material

Velvet wants a soft brush in one direction to keep the pile lying evenly, vacuuming on a low setting, and blotting rather than rubbing, which flattens the pile. Flat fabric wants vacuuming and prompt blotting. Leather wants dusting and a damp cloth. Keep all three out of direct sunlight; velvet fades soonest. Full guidance is in our care tips.

Stock, and what to do if the Roma comes back

Four of the six are unavailable, including the only reclining product. Set a back-in-stock alert on the Roma and you will be emailed if it returns. We will not promise a date, because restocking is a buying decision rather than a schedule. Delivery

Delivery is free across England and Wales and usually takes 7–10 working days. Our own two-person team carries the sofa into your chosen ground-floor room, access permitting. Corner sofas and sets arrive in sections, which makes access easier than a single long piece. Removal of your old sofa can be arranged at the same time.
