A motor drives the mechanism and you control it with a button or a handset. Hold to move, release to stop, so the sofa settles wherever suits you rather than at one of two or three fixed notches. That is the whole difference from a manual recliner. It also means there is a motor, a transformer and a cable to think about, which the next two sections cover. The planning point people miss. Each powered piece needs its own mains socket within reach, so a 3+2 set needs two and a 3+2+1 needs three. If the arrangement puts a piece away from a wall, work out the cable run before delivery day, because a lead trailing across a walkway is a problem you design out rather than live with. A recliner needs room to move at both ends: behind for the back to tilt, in front for the footrest to rise. The figure varies by model, so take it from the product page rather than a rule of thumb, and check the coffee table as well as the wall. Genuine leather where a title states it, on Cidliano, Dandrea and some Annecy pieces. Leather where a title names no grade, on the other Annecy pieces. Fabric on Tanya, Foster and Roma. Worth being precise. The Cidliano and Dandrea titles state Genuine Leather, so that is what we call them. Annecy is inconsistent with itself: some titles state Genuine Leather and others only Leather, within one range. Where no grade is named we call it leather. Black, grey, beige, tan and brown all appear. Black and grey are the most forgiving of everyday marks; tan and brown are the warm options; beige keeps a room light but shows marks soonest. Some powered ranges add a cup holder built into the armrest, and features like consoles or charging points appear on some models and not others. We list them per product rather than claiming them across the collection, so check the product page rather than assuming a feature is standard. An electric recliner armchair does the same job for one person in a fraction of the floor area, and it need not match your sofa. It suits a reading corner, a bay window or a spare seat beside a three-seater. It still needs a socket within reach and clearance at both ends. Leather wants dusting and a damp cloth. Fabric wants vacuuming with an upholstery tool and blotting rather than rubbing. Suede wants a soft brush and no water. Ring us. Do not attempt a repair to the motor, the wiring or the transformer yourself. These are mains-powered products and that is not a DIY job. Unplug the sofa at the socket, leave it as it is and let us arrange an engineer. Never force a mechanism that has stopped moving; forcing it usually turns one fault into two.
