Measure the reclined footprint rather than the upright one: wall to the tip of the raised footrest, plus clearance behind for the backrest unless the model is wall-hugging. Add the socket position so the cable does not cross the floor. Then check the route, doorway widths and heights, hallway turns, stair landings and lift dimensions above the ground floor, against the packaged dimensions. Follow the care instructions supplied with your piece first, since products differ. In general, dust with a dry cloth, blot spills promptly rather than rubbing them, and keep the sofa out of long hours of direct sun, which will lift colour from a warm leather sooner than a cool one.
